CANAAN VALLEY, W.Va. — First responders and search teams are asking for the public’s help in locating a missing man.
Law enforcement issued a Silver Alert early Sunday morning after a Tucker County man suffering from Alzheimer’s disease went missing.
Raymond Eugene Epling, 75, was last seen in the Mirror Lake area of Canaan Valley between 4:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 23.
He is approximately 5’10”, 170 pounds. Epling was wearing jeans, a long sleeve denim shirt with a WVU logo on the left pocket, and white tennis shoes at the time of his disappearance.
Epling is believed to be on foot.
Volunteers wishing to assist in the search should report to the Davis Volunteer Fire Department on William Avenue at noon.
The Canaan Valley Volunteer Fire Department suggests any volunteers are prepared to walk in wet, rough terrain. Temperatures are expected to be cooler in Canaan Valley compared to surrounding areas, and wet weather is expected through Tuesday.
The Department also suggests volunteers have resources available to be on their own for up to 48 hours.
Thus far, the search has included the Tucker County Sheriff’s Office, Canaan Valley Volunteer Fire Department, local volunteers, West Virginia State Police, and Mountaineer Area Rescue Group. Rain temporarily halted the search this morning, but searchers plan to continue this afternoon.
