Elderly man missing in Tucker County found dead

CANAAN VALLEY, W.Va. — A man who went missing Sunday in Tucker County was found dead Wednesday, according to the Canaan Valley Volunteer Fire Department.

Searchers in a West Virginia National Guard helicopter found the body of Raymond Epling of Lewisburg, around 2:45 p.m. about 1.5 miles from a Canaan Valley home he was visiting.

Epling,76, had Alzheimer’s disease.

“The last few days have been very difficult for Mr. Epling’s family and officials are thankful for the outpouring of support from the local community,” a statement from the fire department said.

Rescue organizations from West Virginia, Ohio, Maryland and Pennsylvania assisted in the search.
