Man killed in Cabell County fire

BARBOURSVILLE, W.Va. — A man confined to a wheelchair died in a house fire in Cabell County Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

The blaze happened at the single story house in the 100 block of Jefferson Park Drive in the East Pea Ridge area near Barboursville.

Investigators with the state Fire Marshal’s Office said the 64-year-old victim, who lived by himself, was found in the basement of the home.

There were no smoke detectors.

“The fire cause is undetermined at the present time with no indications of arson,” the Fire Marshal’s Office said in a Facebook post.
