HURRICANE, W.Va. — Class AAA No. 1 Hurricane avenged its only in-state loss on Tuesday night, beating No. 3 Cabell Midland 6-2 in the MSAC baseball championship game.
The Redskins (23-5) broke a 1-1 tie with five runs in the third to take control. Tyler Cox threw the complete game five-hitter for Hurricane in the win. Bo Adkins, Noah Short and Noah Birthisel all finished with two hits apiece for Hurricane.
Madison Jeffrey suffered the loss on the mound for Cabell Midland, going 2.2 innings and giving up six runs (four earned) on six hits.
Cabell Midland (16-5) won the early season matchup between the two teams, 5-4.
Sectional play begins around the state next week as both the Knights and Redskins are aligned in the Class AAA Region 4, Section 2.
