2 dead in Interstate 79 wreck

ROANE COUNTY, W.Va. — Two people were killed in a wreck that closed Interstate 79 south in Roane County for much of Sunday afternoon.

State Police said the victims, a man and a woman who were not immediately identified, were thrown out of their vehicle when it rolled several times near the Amma exit of I-79 at Mile Marker 25.

The driver of the GMC Envoy lost control of it for some reason, according to troopers.

No other vehicles were involved.

One lane of I-79 north was open after the crash which happened around 12 p.m., but the other northbound lane along with the two southbound lanes were shutdown for hours.
