CHARLESTON, W.Va. — West Virginia was in for a chilly Sunday night with low temperatures in many areas expected to drop into the 30s.
Late Sunday, Frost Advisories from the National Weather Service were scheduled to take effect and continue into Monday morning in more than 35 counties in central and southern W.Va.
Those counties included the following:
Wayne, Cabell, Mason, Jackson, Wood, Pleasants, Tyler, Lincoln, Putnam, Kanawha, Roane, Wirt, Calhoun, Ritchie, Doddridge, Mingo, Logan, Boone, Clay, Braxton, Gilmer, Lewis, Harrison, Taylor, McDowell, Wyoming, Upshur, Barbour, Raleigh, Fayette, Nicholas, Webster, Mercer, Summers, Monroe, eastern Greenbrier
A Frost Advisory means widespread frost is expected.
Sensitive outdoor plants may be damaged or destroyed if left uncovered.
Freeze Watches were also posted for the same time period in Pendleton County along with western Grant and western Greenbrier for possible lows of 27 to 31 degrees with more than five hours of temperatures at or below freezing, according to meteorologists.
