I-64 reopens following dozen vehicle pileup

One of the dozen or so vehicles damaged in Friday’s crash.

NITRO, W.Va. — Traffic on Interstate 64 is back to normal following a multi-vehicle crash Friday afternoon near the St. Albans exit.

Approximately a dozen vehicles were damaged in a chain reaction crash on Interstate 64 westbound. The westbound lanes were closed for several hours near the Kanawha-Putnam county line.

Rain and speed appear to have been factors, authorities said.

As many as nine people were taken by ambulances to hospitals after suffering non-life-threatening injuries.
