Charleston man charged after threatening another man twice over one week

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A Charleston man was charged after threatening to kill another man twice over a one-week period.

Charleston police officers arresting 64-year-old Sylvester Gray Jr. after he allegedly walked up to a man’s Ohio Avenue home and pointed a gun at him.

The victim told police Gray told him, “I will kill you.” The victim said he then walked away from Gray.

According to the police, the man also said a similar encounter happened a week ago, and he did not know why he was being threatened.

A witness told police he overheard the incident.

Police found Gray behind the Exxon One Stop at the intersection of Lee Street and Tennessee Street. The suspect told police he had the gun in his front pocket. He also said the victim told him to leave the Ohio Avenue home when he was trying to ask about getting a roof put on the building.

Gray was charged with wanton endangerment involving a firearm, and is at South Central Regional Jail on $10,000 cash-only bond.
