Ex-Martinsburg football standout accepted into drug court

Justin “Cookie” Clinton

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Former Martinsburg High School quarterback Justin “Cookie” Clinton has been accepted to participate in drug court.

The 22-year-old was ordered to serve a two- to 25-year prison sentence in December after he was arrested in October in connection with the theft of thousands of dollars in jewelry in September from a Martinsburg home and selling the items.

Clinton also tested positive for Xanax in September, and attempted to beat another drug test at that time.

According to the Herald Mail, Clinton could be released from custody and placed on home confinement as part of his participation in drug court, but his probation also would have to be reinstated as part of the move.

Clinton, who played for Martinsburg High School’s 2012 state championship football team, was placed on five years of probation in September 2015.

He’s been involved in a number of crimes dating back to 2013.
