CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Cigarette butts dropped in a mortar crack at the Kanawha County Judicial Annex in downtown Charleston caused a smoky situation Wednesday afternoon.
Charleston firefighters first thought there was a fire in the garage elevator shaft but were able to track the origin down to a place where people smoke. A cigarette caught the calking on fire.
No one was evacuated from the Judicial Annex. A few streets were blocked with fire department apparatus until firefighters cleared the scene.
