Grand jury indicts Berkeley County woman in fatal arson

Molly Jo Delgado

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — A Berkeley County grand jury charged a Falling Waters woman with murder for allegedly setting fires in January that left her two young sons dead.

Charges against 29-year-old Molly Delgado include two counts of murder, as well as single counts of first-degree arson and attempted first-degree murder stemming from the deaths of 5-year-old Justin Delgado Junior and 3-year-old Delmer Delgado.

West Virginia Assistant State Fire Marshal George Harms had testified in a preliminary hearing last month that Delgado had shared thoughts of deadly intent before the fatal arson.

Authorities allege she ultimately admitted to setting the bedding on fire where the boys were sleeping using a small lighter.
