Deadly crash under investigation in Kanawha County

CLENDENIN, W.Va. — A truck crash early Friday morning in Kanawha County claimed a man’s life, authorities said.

Jacob David Belcher, 37, of Indiana, died at the scene according to investigators.

The wreck happened at around 12:30 a.m. on Reamer Road near Clendenin. Belcher lost control of the truck. It went off the road and struck a tree.

He was ejected from the vehicle, investigators said.

A passenger, 31-year-old Heather Leigh Putz of Indiana, was taken to a local hospital and was listed in critical condition.

Authorities said alcohol and speed may have been involved in the crash. An investigation is underway.
