Man charged after wearing clown mask and scaring motorists

State police say this is the mask Kevin Hancock was wearing.

WITCHER CREEK, W.Va. — A man wearing a clown mask was arrested by state police troopers Thursday night in eastern Kanawha County.

According to a criminal complaint, Kevin Wayne Hancock, 45, of Belle, was darting back and forth across Witcher Creek Road scaring motorists.

When a trooper heard about it he approached Hancock who took off the mask. The complaint said Hancock wasn’t able to tell him why he was wearing it.

After a search, the trooper found meth, a painkiller and marijuana on Hancock. He’s being held in the South Central Regional Jail on a number of drug charges along with an alleged violation of the state’s mask law.
