WHEELING, W.Va. — What’s described as an “abbreviated strike” involving AT&T Mobility Workers is scheduled to end Monday, union officials said.
Members of the Communications Workers of America set up picket lines across the state beginning Friday afternoon in connection with an ongoing contract dispute with the company.
One picket line was set up in Wheeling at The Highlands where AT&T has a call center and a retail store. The company has a few more retail stores in the area. The strike impacts about 180 members of CWA Local 2006. AT&T workers based in Weirton are also part of the strike.
Other picket lines were being manned in Charleston, Barboursville, Summersville, Teays Valley, Fairmont, Morgantown and Huntington.
Contract issues are focused on wages, benefits and job security.
The strike impacts about 200,000 CWA members nationwide, approximately 800 in the Mountain State.
