No. 1 Bridgeport takes game one of regional over Braxton County

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — Class AA No. 1 Bridgeport is one win away from another return trip to the state tournament after beating No. 6 Braxton County 8-3 Tuesday in game one of a best of three regional series.

The Indians (25-6) were led by Drew Hefner at the plate who went 3-for-3 with an RBI. Cooper Hineman went 1-for-3 on the night with three RBIs for Bridgeport in the win as well.

Brayden Lesher picked up the complete game win on the mound for the Indians, giving up three runs (two earned) on five hits, while striking out eight.

Ben Fincham went 2-for-3 with a run scored for Braxton County (24-4) in the loss. Game two of the series is scheduled for Wednesday at Braxton County.
