Jarrett enters settlement for violating state ethics act

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Ethics Commission issued a public reprimand Thursday to the executive director of the West Virginia Water Development Authority for violating the state ethics law.

Chris Jarrett, executive director of the agency, entered a settlement agreement in which he admitted to violating the West Virginia Governmental Ethics Act.

The authority leased space in its building to the West Virginia Infrastructure and Jobs Development Council.

Jarrett stored at least 12 pieces of personal furniture between 2013 and 2016 in an unfinished storage room paid by the council.

Jarrett also must pay a $2,000 fine and reimburse $2,500 to the council.
