Flooding reported in parts of southern West Virginia

MINDEN, W.Va. — High water was reported in parts of Kanawha, Fayette and Raleigh counties Monday afternoon, though water levels are expected to recede during the night.

The National Weather Service issued the warnings for parts of Fayette and Raleigh counties.

Between two and four inches of rain had been reported by 3 p.m. in the Fayette County, according to the National Weather Service.

The state Division of Highways had to close several roads.

The Weather Service also issued a flood warning for Raleigh County until 4:45 p.m.

High water was expected in Beckley, Mabscott, Sophia, Crab Orchard, Dry Creek, MacArthur, Bradley, Shady Spring, Prosperity, Beaver, Daniels, Piney View, Stanaford, Coal City, Lester, Naoma, Bolt, Arnett, Dorothy and Stickney.

There was also high water reported Monday afternoon at Standard along Paint Creek Road in Kanawha County.
