I-64 crash in Beckley leaves 1 dead

BECKLEY, W.Va. — A woman was killed in a single vehicle accident Wednesday on Interstate 64 in Beckley, according to the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash happened on I-64 westbound at mile marker 122.6 near the East Beckley exit.

A man was operating the vehicle when he ran off the roadway and slammed into the median. Deputies said the driver traveled into the median for several hundred feet. The vehicle then traveled back into the westbound lane, went across and struck an embankment on the right shoulder.

The woman passenger died in the wreck.

The identity of those involved has not been released.

No charges have been filed, at this point.
