Hurricane’s Perry drafted in 14th round by Red Sox

HURRICANE, W.Va. — Former Hurricane standout and Kentucky signee Aaron Perry was drafted Wednesday by the Boston Red Sox in the 14th round of the Major League Baseball Draft.

Perry was the 431st overall pick.

“Thank you for making my childhood dream come true! Very blessed and excited for this opportunity,” Perry tweeted.

In a season cut short due to a stress fracture in his pitching elbow, Perry went 3-1 with a 0.33 ERA, while hitting .628 from the plate in 43 appearances.

Perry will have the coming days to decide on pursuing the opportunity with Boston or to begin his college career at Kentucky.
