Man dead after I-77 crash

RIPLEY, W.Va. — A man died following a crash Thursday morning on Interstate 77.

The accident happened north of Ripley near mile-marker 139.

According to West Virginia State Police, the man was traveling with his wife and seven children. There was heavy rain in the area and the vehicle hydroplaned, went into the median and rolled.

The family was from Mineral Wells and was heading to a church function in Jackson County.

The woman and children were taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The name of the man has not been released.

State Police are investigating the crash.
