North wins second straight over South in Football Classic

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The North Bears defeated the South Cardinals 10-7 on Saturday night in the annual North-South Football Classic from Laidley Field in Charleston.

St. Marys quarterback Will Billeter scored the Bears’ lone touchdown on a 67-yard run in the second quarter. Spring Mills’ Miguel Pereira also added a 31-yard field goal in the first half for the North.

University’s Isaiah Utt won MVP honors for the North, finishing with four tackles for no-gain or a loss, including a sack.

The South’s lone score came on a 23 yard touchdown pass from Bluefield’s Cody Fuller to Nicholas County’s Carter Serbert-Sweeney.

Neither team scored in the second half.

It was the second straight win for the North in the series, following last year’s 42-35 triumph.
