WINFIELD, W.Va. — Former Winfield boys basketball coach Pat McGinnis is taking over the Winfield girls basketball program.
McGinnis was named to the position earlier this week. He spent 13 seasons at the helm with the boys basketball program, winning a state championship in 2004 and finishing with an overall 210-111 record before stepping down in 2014.
The Generals went 23-4 in 2016, making a girls basketball state tournament semifinal appearance. Sophomore ZZ Russell is one of the key returning pieces this coming season for Winfield after averaging 16 points per game as a freshman last year.
