Lawmakers set to end special session

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Members of the House of Delegates and state Senate are scheduled to return to the state capitol Monday to resume a special session called by the governor several weeks ago.

Lawmakers passed the budget bill June 17. Gov. Jim Justice announced last week he would let the bill become law without his signature. The new budget year begins July 1.

The legislature will likely only meet briefly Monday and then adjourn the special session. Floor sessions are scheduled for 11 a.m. in the House of Delegates and state Senate.

The legislature’s Joint Committee on Government and Finance is scheduled to meet at 2 p.m. A proposed property acquisition by Glenville State College is on the agenda.
