Huntington dye plant to close

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Flint Group Pigments will close its Huntington manufacturing facility, citing a decline in demand for a dye used in printer ink.

According to The Herald-Dispatch, 50 people will lose their jobs when the plant closes.

The facility produces alkali blue, which is used in magazine and book printing.

The plant opened in 1912 and was bought by Flint Group Pigments in 2005.

The facility will operate until the raw material inventory runs out.
