Cousin of the late Chris Henry commits to West Virginia

Houston three-star prospect Ralph Davis, the cousin of former Mountaineers and NFL receiver Chris Henry, committed to West Virginia.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — West Virginia gained its second wide receiver commitment in 18 hours when Houston-North Shore speedster Ralph Davis chose the Mountaineers over Ole Miss and Colorado State.

The cousin of former WVU and Cincinnati Bengals standout Chris Henry, Davis tweeted Thursday, “I am shutting down my recruiting process to follow in my family’s footsteps. I will be attending my dream school.”

Davis stand 6-foot and 173 pounds and has been recruited by West Virginia’s receivers coach Tyron Carrier, himself a Houston native.

The commitment continues a receiver-oriented week for the Mountaineers, who added Alabama sophomore transfer T.J. Simmons before gaining a pledge from 3-star Bryce Wheaton of Holly Springs, N.C. on Wednesday.

Another receiver also remains a target, with Richmond Hill (Ga.) prospect Sam James planning to choose between WVU, Mississippi State, Maryland and Cincinnati next month.
