Six transported from Lost Creek I-79 accident

LOST CREEK, W.Va. — Six people were transported following a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 79 Thursday evening.

The wreck, which occurred just before 5 p.m., involved five vehicles headed northbound near the 112 mile marker in Lost Creek.

Harrison County Sheriff’s Lt. McHenry said the crash was within the I-79 construction zone.

Four of the vehicles involved in the wreck were either slowed or stopped. McHenry said the driver of the fifth vehicle was distracted by something in the backseat, causing a chain reaction from a rear-end collision.

Three of the patients, including two children, were transported via HealthNet to Ruby Memorial Hospital. Three others were transported by ambulance to United Hospital Center.

No word on their condition at this time.
