Arrest warrants issued in Kanawha County beating case

LOUDENDALE, W.Va. — State Police have issued warrants for two people connected to a fight in the Loudendale community of Kanawha County from the weekend.

Ronald Blizzard, Jr. of Loudendale was severely beaten at his home after a night of drinking.    State Police are still trying to sort out exactly how the incident unfolded.   Blizzard and a female were drinking at his home and got into an argument in which he kicked her out of the house on Saturday night.

According to State Police, several of the woman’s friends and family returned to the home later in the evening and a fight broke out,  leaving Blizzard with severe injuries.  Witnesses indicated Blizzard may have been the aggressor in the fight  which left him with facial fractures.

A warrant has been issued for Colin Pickens of Loudendale.  He’s now wanted for battery in connection with the incident, however troopers investigating the incident say they found a baseball bat at the scene.  It’s unclear if the bat was used in the attack, but if it is found he was used, the charges could be increased to a felony.

Also wanted in the incident is Melissa Cardenas for a charge of grand larceny.  She’s accused of stealing a vehicle from the home as the group fled after the incident.   Cardenas and Pickens remain at large today.

Troopers say other arrest warrants may also be forthcoming as the investigation continues.   Troopers says as far as they can tell, the argument which led to the incident started over another female.
