ROBSON, W.Va. — A Fayette County man is in Southern Regional Jail and faces charges of elder abuse following a Monday arrest, according to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department responded to the Robson area Monday afternoon around 2:15 p.m. and found a 78-year-old woman bleeding extensively from wounds to her arms.

Craig Anthony Cottle, 55, of Robson, is charged with intentional and malicious abuse of an incapacitated adult resulting in injury, which is a felony offense. He is additionally charged with misdemeanor domestic battery.

“The abuse of children, the elderly, or physically or mentally incapacitated adults is something we simply will not tolerate in Fayette County,” Sheriff Mike Fridley said in a Monday evening press release. “The Sheriff’s Office gives particular emphasis to the investigation of alleged crimes of this nature.”

The felony charge can carry not less than two years and up to ten years in prison.
