Milton man killed in I-64 crash

TEAYS VALLEY, W.Va. — A Cabell County man died Tuesday morning when the car he was driving ran into the back of a tractor trailer on Interstate 64 in Putnam County, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department said.

Rodney Kirby, Jr, 31, of Milton, suffered major head trauma and other serious injuries when his passenger car hit the tractor trailer as the truck was entering the interstate from the Teays Valley entrance ramp.

Kirby was pronounced dead at CAMC Teays Valley.

The collision occurred at around 6:50 a.m. There was no evidence Kirby was wearing a seatbelt, investigator.

The truck driver was not injured and there was minimal damage to the tractor trailer.
