Justice appoints Greenbrier COO and one other to WVU Board of Governors

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The two latest appointments to the West Virginia University Board of Governors will come from the southern part of the state.

Governor Jim Justice appointed Charleston-based attorney Timothy C. Bailey to a full four-year term to replace outgoing Board member and Morgantown businesswoman Diane Lewis, who was ineligible for reappointment.

Justice also appointed The Greenbrier’s Chief Operating Officer, Elmer F. Coppoolse, to fill the unexpired term of Greg Babe, who resigned due to increasing business obligations.

Both Bailey and Coppoolse will be eligible for reappointment.

Justice also reappointed Wheeling-based attorney William Wilmoth and NASA astrophysicist Kim Weaver to full terms.

“I want to thank Gov. Justice for appointing impressive members to our Board of Governors, providing us with a broad range of expertise,” President Gordon Gee said. “These individuals care deeply about our state and this institution, and will be key leaders as we work hard to continue the momentum their predecessors have started.”

Wilmoth was elected chairman at the last regular meeting of the Board. David Alvarez will serve as vice chairman. Taunja Willis Miller will serve as secretary.

All terms are effective July 1.
