UPDATE: Missing Pocahontas County woman safe

DURBIN, W.Va. — An elderly woman suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease and dementia is safely in police custody after going missing in Pocahontas County Thursday, according to area authorities.

Pocahontas County 911 released a statement shortly after 9:30 Friday morning saying Wanda Maxine Nottingham was “okay,” but did not elaborate. They also thanked those who participated in the search.

Nottingham is described as in her late 60’s or early 70’s, wearing a white and tan shirt, dark khaki pants, glasses, and has ear-length hair. She’s approximately 5’4” or 5’5” and 180 to 190 pounds.

She was last seen at a campsite by her husband near Durbin in the vicinity of Nottingham Road off of River Road.
