Mercer County man with Alzheimer’s accused of shooting death

PRINCETON, W.Va. — A man with Alzheimer’s disease was arrested after allegedly killing his wife Thursday.

Larry Dillon, 65, of Princeton, is accused of shooting his wife, Sandy, at a residence in the White Oak Valley Mobile Home Park on Low Gap Road.

Authorities said the couple’s 9-year-old granddaughter was in the room when the shooting happened.

Mercer County Circuit Court Judge Mark Wills ordered a competency evaluation Friday for Dillon, as well as a defense motion for him to undergo a competency evaluation.

The evaluation will be done at a hospital in Huntington.
