GLENVILE, W.Va. — Glenville State College President Dr. Tracy Pellett announced Tuesday lower costs for its residential meal plan as part of the institution’s efforts to keep college affordable.
The Glenville State College Board of Governors approved a resolution to cut costs by $100 and also eliminate the mandatory $100 annual meal plan.
“Putting money back in the pockets of students allows them to be more responsive to their own needs,” Pellett said in a statement. “Simply stated, Glenville State College is committed to continuing to streamline the way we operate and put students and families first.”
Pellett announced June 22 tuition for students would not increase, instead cutting the amount by a dollar.
Student Government Association President Cameron Woods said the deal was “really cool.”
“For me being on campus, it saves me $50 a semester,” he said. “That’s more money in my pocket to do whatever I want to, whether it’s snacks or usually gas money.”
Faculty and staff will also be able to receive a $20 flex cash bonus when they purchase $100 to use at campus dining facilities.
