Investigators look for clues in Nicholas County teen’s death

SUMMERSVILLE, W.Va. — Investigators say they will hopefully know more about the case surrounding the death of a 14-year-old in Nicholas County once an autopsy is complete.  The teenage girl was found unresponsive Tuesday at a home in the Lockwood Community.

“We’ve requested for the body to be sent to the State Medical Examiner for an autopsy,” said Sheriff William Nunley. “At this time it does appear to be suspicious for a 14 year old to pass away suddenly.

Nunley was unsure who made the call to 911, but said there was no indication the teen had been anywhere other than home prior to her death.  He could not confirm who else was in the home at the time she died, only to say it didn’t appear she was alone.   The sheriff did theorize a drug overdose appeared likely.

“We suspect that of course,” he said. “But that hasn’t been confirmed yet.”

The name of the teenager has not been released.
