Home invasion suspect dies after fleeing authorities

BLUEFIELD, W.Va. — The suspect in a home invasion in Mercer County died Thursday after running from the home in question.

According to the Bluefield Police Department, the two male suspects were carrying out a home invasion on Ronceverte Street when K-9 units arrived. The suspects, a black male and a white male, were armed and wearing body armor.

The black male was found unresponsive on Wyoming Street in a wooded area. Officers said he passed away from a possible heart attack or heat stroke.

The white male surrendered and is in police custody. The homeowners were injured and transported to Bluefield Regional Medical Center.
