No verdict yet in Jackson trial

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A jury did not reach a verdict Friday in the murder trial of Tremaine Jackson.

The lack of a verdict comes after the jury asked for the definition of intent, adding they were at a “critical point” in making a decision.

Jackson, 25, allegedly was involved in the December 2015 shooting death of Bryan Rogers, 29, of Ripley.

In a taped confession, Jackson initially denied shooting Rogers. However, at the end of the around 90-minute video, Jackson admitted to the crime.

Jackson’s attorneys claim he was coerced into confessing to police.

The first trial in August 2016 was declared a mistrial after a juror went to the crime scene.
