Morgantown junior quarterback Logan Holgorsen to transfer

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Morgantown junior quarterback Logan Holgorsen announced Friday that he is transferring from MHS.

Holgorsen is the son of WVU head coach Dana Holgorsen.

“After many long talks with my family, I have decided to transfer from MHS,” Holgorsen tweeted. “I want to apologize to anyone who is let down by this decision, as it was extremely hard on me. I realize I have to do what’s best for me.

“I have nothing but great things to say about Morgantown High School,” he continued. “I want to thank my teammates, coaches, teachers and administrators for making these past two years the best two years of my life. Thank you. Please respect my decision.”

Holgorsen helped lead Morgantown to a 10-3 record and state semifinal appearance as a sophomore, throwing for 1,355 yards with 14 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

Junior Aaron Alvarez is expected to be the front-runner to step in for Holgorsen at quarterback. Morgantown also must replace its top two receivers from that 2016 team in Camron Henderson and Ben Waibogha.

The Mohigans have a couple of strong out-of-state challenges to open up the coming season in North Allegheny (PA) and Steubenville (OH).

Holgorsen did not disclose where he would be transferring to.
