HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — The Marshall University Board of Governors unanimously approved Wednesday to extend President Jerome Gilbert’s contract until July 2022.
His contract was set to expire Jan. 15, 2018.
Gilbert became the institution’s 37th president on Jan. 18, 2016. He had previously served at Mississippi State University as provost and executive vice president.
“President Gilbert has brought tremendous leadership to our university and the entire region,” Board chairman Wyatt Scaggs said in a statement. “The board is extraordinarily pleased with his vision for Marshall University and the direction in which he is leading us.”
Gilbert will continue earning an annual salary of $430,000. His new contract will expire July 15, 2022.
