Huntington man arrested for beating death

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Huntington police arrested a man Friday in connection to a murder.

Deland Steelman, 32, of Huntington, has been charged with first- and second-degree murder.

This arrest comes after a man’s body was discovered in an alley between 3rd and 4th Avenues early Friday morning.

Authorities said a group of homeless people were drinking together in the alley, and a dispute lead to violence.

The altercation was captured on video surveillance.

According to court documents, the victim suffered blunt force injuries to his face.
