Minor flooding in Marion County temporarily closes I-79

FAIRMONT, W.Va. — Interstate 79 is open again following a 45 minute closure due to flooding from a heavy thunderstorm passing through the area.

The Marion County 911 Center reported the closure was in the vicinity of mile marker 131 to 132 in both lanes.

Accidents occurred on I-79 at mile marker 131 south bound and mile marker 137 north bound, but no injuries were reported in either accident.

All roads in Marion County are now open, but dispatchers caution motorists that there is still some light, localized flooding on roadways.

A passing shower or thunderstorm remains possible Friday afternoon in the North Central region, according to Accuweather.
