Woman set on fire in Charleston

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A woman is in critical condition at Cabell Huntington Burn Unit after being set on fire early Sunday morning.

According to Charleston police, the woman was sleeping on the front porch of an empty house on Randolph Street when a man poured an accelerant on her and then set her on fire. She was engulfed in flames and is in critical condition, police said.

Chief of Detectives Lt. Steve Cooper called it a heinous crime.

Investigators believe the same man tried to set a house on fire on Wyoming Street but was chased off.
