Preston County man arrested after allegedly strangling wife twice in same night

MASONTOWN, W.Va. — A Preston County man is facing a felony charge after Sheriff’s deputies say he strangled his wife twice in the same night during a domestic dispute.

Douglas Tyler Robinson, 26, of Masontown, faces a felony strangulation charge. The victim told Deputy R.A. Stockett Jr. that Robinson “grabbed her around the throat and began choking her.”

Robinson’s wife also told Deputy Stockett that Robinson had grabbed her around the throat to the point that she could not breathe twice on July 22.

According to the criminal complaint, the victim told Stockett that Robinson “strangled her to the point that she lost consciousness” on previous occasions. The criminal complaint continues with the victim’s statement to Stockett, saying she “learned from that and that she knew if she acted like she was unconscious that he might let her go.”

Robinson is in jail in lieu of $100,000 bond.
