Teenager dies after Kanawha County bicycle crash

SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The teenage girl who was hit while riding her bicycle last weekend in Kanawha County has died.

According to the family of Shawnee Paxton, she was taken off life support late Tuesday night.

Paxton, 18, was hit by a car while riding her bicycle Saturday night on MacCorkle Avenue in South Charleston.

The South Charleston Police Department have launched an investigation into the crash.

Funeral arrangements for Paxton are scheduled for Friday at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home in Poca. The family told WSAZ-TV it is planning to hold a candlelight vigil to honor her at a later time. It will at the location where she was hit.
