Tucker County man charged with murder found dead in cell

TUCKER COUNTY, W.Va. — A Tucker County man who was arrested on murder charges has been found dead in his jail cell, according to state officials.

Randy Shull, 63, of Parsons, was taken into custody Wednesday after a woman was found dead at a home on Retriever Road in Tucker County.

Shull was being held at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a 2nd degree murder charge.

At about 6 a.m. Thursday morning, Shull was found unresponsive in his cell.

Officials with the West Virginia Department of Military Affairs and Public Safety said staff immediately began providing medical attention.

Shull was pronounced dead at around 7 a.m.

West Virginia State Police troopers were investigating and the West Virginia Regional Jail Authority as also reviewing Shull’s death per policy.

There were no initial indications that Shull’s death was a suicide.
