Snowshoe Foundation to host annual raffle Saturday

SHOWSHOE, W.Va. — The annual Snowshoe Foundation raffle in Pocahontas County will be held Saturday.

“We have got $250,000 of prizes that we give away. Every five minutes somebody is winning something nice from $1,000 in cash all the way up to a Ford F-150,” said Voras Hayes with the foundation.

The 2017 Treasure on the Mountain Raffle begins at 3 p.m. Saturday at Snowshoe Mountain.

Hayes said the the donations received are used to help area schools, food banks, boy scouts, athletics, music programs and more.

“Last year, we made right at $200,000 and we support the schools and charities of Randolph, Webster and Pocahontas counties,” Hayes said.

The Snowshoe Foundation has a mobile app for participants who cannot attend the event.

“You can hop on and see the winners in case you’re not paying attention when the winner is drawn or if you don’t happen to be at the event, you don’t have to be present to win, you can check the app and see if your number pops up. You’re a winner whether you’re here or not,” Hayes said.

Tickets to Saturday’s raffle are $100.
