Cause of Boone County fire not known

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The Office of State Fire Marshal said Wednesday the cause of a fire Monday in Boone County is “undetermined.”

Crews spent Monday and Tuesday battling the fire at an abandoned building on Main Street in Madison. Combustible material was located inside. It was too dangerous to send crews in the structure at the time.

No one was injured in the fire.

Local officials said the building had become a gathering spot for the homeless.

The fire remains under investigation.
