Woman identified in fatal Harrison County U.S. 50 crash

SALEM, W.Va. — The woman killed in an accident on U.S. 50 near Cherry Camp Road in Salem has been identified as Lolita Belt, 46, of Wood County.

Harrison County Sheriff’s Lt. Rob Waybright said Belt may have suffered some type of medical condition that caused the accident.

“She didn’t make any contact with any other vehicles or with anything on the roadway,” Waybright said. “There was no evasive evidence, such as skid marks.”

A child who was in the vehicle at the time of the accident was transported to United Hospital Center for treatment of minor injuries. The child has since been released. Belt was the guardian of the child.
