Marshals arrest two fugitives in Morgantown in same night

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The U.S. Marshals Service affected the arrest of two fugitives in the Morgantown area Thursday evening.

Matthew Perry, 39, of Greensboro, PA, was in police custody at 6:00 p.m. Thursday. The U.S. Marshals Service, Morgantown Police, and the Mountain State Fugitive Task Force took him into custody near Harding Drive.

Perry is charged with rape of a child, deviate sexual intercourse with a child, aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault, and corruption of a minor. Perry is alleged to have sexually assaulted a female victim under the age of 13. A warrant was issued for his arrest June 2, 2017.

The U.S. Marshals Service was requested to locate Perry on July 24. The U.S. Marshals in the Western District of Pennsylvania discovered Perry had relocated to Morgantown and was working as a taxi driver.

This information was then shared with the Marshals Service operating in Clarksburg, leading to Thursday night’s arrest.

Perry put up a struggle before authorities took him into custody, according to Terry Moore of the U.S. Marshals Service/

Perry has been charged as a fugitive from justice by the Morgantown Police Department. He will appear in Monongalia County court before being extradited to Pennsylvania to face his charges.

After police apprehended Perry, they found 37-year-old Philip Mosely in a nearby area — wanted by U.S. Marshals for seven years after he absconded from Pennsylvania State Parole in 2010. Mosely faced numerous charges, but was believed to be on parole for a felony offense of fleeing an officer and an unspecified drug charge.

Mosely was nearly apprehended in 2015 on Patteson Drive in Morgantown.
