Maryland men arrested after marijuana, money seized

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — Two Maryland men are in custody after West Virginia State Police found several containers of suspected marijuana products in their car.

It happened Friday evening on U.S. Route 522 North near Berkeley Springs. Thomas Michael Desmond and Timothy Patrick Desmond of Hagerstown, Maryland, were originally stopped for a speeding violation.

According to a news release, a “strong odor of marijuana” was coming from the vehicle. Following a search, $10,188 in cash was seized as well as several containers of has, THC oil and packaged marijuana.

Both men were arrested for possession with intent. They were placed at Eastern Regional Jail on $25,000 bail.
