Woman charged after overdosing behind wheel, driving into police cruiser

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Three people face charges after a driver overdosed and crashed into a Huntington police cruiser that involved in a funeral procession.

The crash happened Saturday around 3:40 p.m. at the intersection of Washington and Hal Greer boulevards. A green sedan ran a red light and struck the police vehicle.

The driver was identified as a 44-year-old woman from Hurricane. She was unconscious from a suspected heroin overdose and revived with naloxone.

She was arraigned in Cabell County Magistrate Court for misdemeanor DUI.

According to the Huntington Police Department, two other passengers in the sedan were cited for misdemeanors: one for permitting DUI and the second on a charge of possession of intoxicating substances.

No one was injured.
